IS THIS LIKE CROSSFIT?

No. PLAE HARD’s mission is to increase endurance, strength and conditioning, and core fitness in a planned, progressive program. Our Next Level Training focuses on total-body conditioning with a safe, effective purpose in mind. Our facility will have an open layout, similar to CrossFit boxes, but our purpose and programming are completely different.

WHAT KINDS OF CLASSES DO YOU OFFER?

We offer a wide variety of classes in which anyone can participate, from TRX to cycling to metcon to yoga, etc. Some classes are geared toward strength and hypertrophy (muscle building), whereas others are designed to promote endurance. All of our classes reduce body fat and build lean body mass. For more detailed descriptions of each, please visit our schedule page.

WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL, GROUND-BASED TRAINING?

Functional training refers to exercises that mimic everyday movement. PLAE HARD educates members about why movements are included in the program, what specific muscle groups are being worked and how/why this is beneficial. We teach people how to move. Ground-based training refers to participants exercising on their feet – training that deals with points of contact on the ground. This ensures natural movement that imitates everyday patterns. Think squats instead of leg presses.

WHAT IS THE DIFFICULTY LEVEL OF YOUR AVERAGE CLASS?

All of our classes are high-intensity, but we strongly encourage you to progress at your own pace. That is why you’ll see a wide range of skill levels in any single class. We want you to move correctly, to understand and practice great form, and to stay in your lane. Our promise is that if you do, you’ll be surprising yourself before you know it.

WHAT IS HIIT?

HIIT is high-intensity interval training. Intensity level is specific to each individual. You set your own pace. Some increase weight load (from 20-30 lbs.) while others increase impact load (from squats to jump squats to burpee squats). Interval refers to the number of rounds executed.

WHAT IS METCON?

MetCon stands for metabolic conditioning. Participants work and rest for specific intervals. PLAE HARD’s Next Level Training utilizes a higher work-to-rest ratio. In order to develop endurance and maximize calories burned, we elevate your heart rate during the work interval and then promote recovery during the rest, before running through the circuit again. What’s great about MetCon is that, because of the increase and decrease in heart rate, calories continue burning for the next 24 hours.

HOW BIG ARE CLASSES?

We are currently capping classes at 15 participants. That enables us to provide personal attention to each individual, while also ensuring an energetic group atmosphere.

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR A CLASS?

Class registration is available here on our website. You may also download our PLAE HARD app on your mobile device to manage your workout schedule on the go.

HOW LATE CAN I SIGN UP BEFORE A CLASS BEGINS?

Assuming a class is not full, you can sign up until it begins. We usually cap how many are allowed into a single session, but we also provide a waiting list, just in case someone cancels. If you are to register and then later change your mind, you must cancel at least 12 hours before class.

ARE ANY CLASSES SUITABLE FOR PREGNANT WOMEN?

That depends on how far along you are. We encourage you to show up for class, but because of the many changes your body is undergoing, we may need to adjust our programming to be on the safe side.

DO ANY CLASSES HAVE MEDICAL LIMITATIONS?

If you have limitations, we’ll be sure to get them addressed before we begin the program. One of our core values is the importance of understanding and working with your body in its current state. In light of that, we’ll be eager to maximize your experience by making appropriate adjustments.

WHAT IS THE AGE REQUIREMENT FOR MEMBERSHIP?

We require that anyone aged 17 or younger be accompanied by a parent or guardian to sign in.

HOW DO I CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP? IF I’M MOVING AWAY, MAY I SHOW PROOF OF RELOCATION FOR CREDIT?

We do not use contracts, so you can cancel at any time.
